our daily bread
18.09.05
Awake at 5 am, crazy. It’s a four hour trip to church this morning, departing at 6:30 from Altnau, and arriving slightly early for the service at the International Church of Luzern. The message was on “our daily bread” — the essentials God provides for this present day. Pastor Ian referenced Matthew 6 about God feeding the birds, and added that He doesn’t put the food in their mouths. We need to meet God halfway, doing what we can, but ultimately trusting in Him.
Afterwards, I was offered various brochures of Christian-run hotels in the Ticano region, access to the Internet and use of the phone to setup my future accommodations. The pastor and his wife, of New Zealand, both live upstairs from the church — convenient.
I had previously contacted a Bed & Breakfast in Steinen, and today noticed that it’s quite close to Lucerne. So I arranged to stay one night in the Asia room, which is a nicely decorated and has its own entrance and ensuite WC/shower. I really like the sunroof over the bed, but I don’t think I’ll be stargazing tonight — much too cloudy. The B&B in Aigle also had one, seems like a great idea.
Steinen is on the way to Locarno, which is where I’m headed. I’ve reserved a place for tomorrow, located right near Lake Maggiore in the town of Ascona. With everything prepared, and considering how chilly it is today, I am staying in to rest… tomorrow is a new day.
